Lessons With Kylie

Kylie B. teaches virtually and out of her home in Ithaca, NY as well as at the Homer Center for the Arts. She teaches private lessons in multiple instruments including voice, piano, trombone, guitar, and flute. She teaches a variety of styles including jazz, musical theater, rock, pop, and classical music. She performs regularly on all the instruments she plays as a soloist and in bands in a variety of different contexts. Kylie finds it deeply fulfilling to research new techniques that will benefit her students and is continually attending workshops and lessons to keep her skills sharp. She enjoys teaching ear training with students of all skill levels and has created a curriculum that helps her clients to gradually develop the ability to analyze melodies “on the spot” using the solfege system. She also deeply enjoys helping clients to discover their ability to match pitch after believing they are ‘tone deaf’. A typical lesson will involve reinforcement of healthy technique, music theory study, building repertoire, listening analysis, and creative exploration such as improvisation, expression, or songwriting. Students receive a google drive folder full of resources as well as a weekly practice regimen so that they know what to practice.

Kylie specializes in teaching singing to all ages and skill levels. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and has received training from the Northwest Institute of Voice and the Somatic Voicework™ LoVetri Method Teachers’ Association. She uses her experience, intuition, and knowledge of vocal pedagogy and science to guide her clients and teaches them to sing with their true voice: a healthy and consistent sound that they can harness to sing with confidence. It doesn’t matter if you’re a professional singer or absolute beginner, Kylie can teach you to create your most beautiful, unique sound.
